ReadLater Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
Short version: ReadLater stores your reading queue on your device only. It collects nothing, sends nothing anywhere, and works fully offline.
Data stored on your device
When you save a page, ReadLater keeps the following in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local):
- Page URL, title, domain, and favicon
- Text you chose to save, and notes and tags you add
- Reading-time estimate, reading progress, and open history
- Your settings (theme, reading speed, open behavior)
This data never leaves your browser.
Data we never collect
- No accounts and no personal information
- No analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind
- No network requests made by the extension
- No data shared with or sold to third parties
Permissions
ReadLater requests only the minimum browser permissions needed to save pages you explicitly choose to save: local storage, the active tab at save time, page scripts limited to pages you saved (for word counts and scroll position), and right-click menu entries. It requests no host permissions and runs no code on pages you have not saved.
Your control
You can export your library as a JSON file or permanently delete all local data at any time from the ReadLater settings page.
Children
ReadLater collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new date.
